At the turn of the 19th century your insurance needs were much different than th ey were at the end of the 20th century. And at the turn of the 20th century The Leonard Insurance Agency stands ready to give you the same service that we have for the last 90 years.
Serving the town of Osterville for over 90 years, the Leonard Insurance Agency opened its doors in July 1906, in the building
that is now occupied by Cazeault Roofers. James Milton ("JM")
 Leonard operated the business as sole proprietor until 1932 when he joined Charles Daniel and Cecil Goodspeed in a joint real estate/insurance company called Leonard, Daniel, Goodspeed, Inc. at 13 Wianno Avenue. In the early 40's the business split and functioned as two
separate corporations, Daniel-Goodspeed Real Estate and Leonard-Goodspeed Insurance Agency Inc. When JM Leonard died in 1944 at the age of 82, his daughter, Margerie Leonard succeeded to his ownership and later, in 1946, she bought Cecil Goodspeed's shares in the corporation and operated the Leonard
Insurance Agency as sole proprietor. In January 1951, Margerie's nephew, Philip Leonard, went to work for his aunt, and seven years later he bought the agency which he ran for 32 years. In 1990, Philip Leonard retired and transferred the agency to Daniel E. James and Frank L. Horgan of the Horgan-James Insurance Agency of Hyannis who continue to run the Leonard Insurance Agency in the same family-run
manner under which it has operated for almost 100 years. Although we primarily serve all year round and seasonal residents of the Cape Cod area, we have
clients from across Massachusetts and the rest of United States. As your independent agent, we will work with you to ensure that you have the best possible insurance policies which will meet your personal and business needs.
And now, 100 years later, at the start of a new millennium, we at the Leonard
Agency, stand ready to serve you in the next 100 years in the same way we did in the last 100 years.
We are located in the center of Osterville at 7 Wianno Avenue, where Main Street and Wianno
Avenue. meet, across from the church.
